This 6 week course is a continuation of the Character Illustration Workshop, and builds on the basics of character design from ideation and mind-mapping, concept sketching and shape language, and finalizing details with ink and colour. Each week, we will study existing concept artwork to observe and apply professional storytelling and drawing techniques that bring characters to life. Guided demos and collaborative brainstorming sessions will encourage students to create their own original stories and characters, making the class especially fitting for children with interests in narrative-based media like animation, comics, or video games. In addition to animal/creature design, this course will also introduce beginner-friendly techniques on how to draw human characters, making the content approachable and fresh for both new and previous students!
This course is taught by our guest instructor, Natalia Ionescu, who is an illustrator and designer specializing in narrative and children’s illustrations. Drawing inspiration from bright colours and natural textures, she often explores expressive figures, whimsical settings, and organic elements in her work.
*Limit of 6 kids.
